Guava

Guava (Psidium guajava L.) is a widely cultivated fruit plant among the Psidium species. It is distributed worldwide in the tropical and subtropical areas. The fruit has a light yellow or pink pulp, is eaten fresh or as preserves, and is processed for use in dairy and baked products.

Guava is a common tropical fruit cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions. The common guava (lemon guava, apple guava) is a small tree in the myrtle family(Myrtacae), native toMexico, Central America the Carribean andNorthern South America. The name guava is also given to some other species in the genus Psidium such as strawberry guava  and to the pineapple guava, . In 2019, 55 million tonnes of guavas were produced worldwide, led by India with 45% of the total. Botanically, guavas are berries.
